This photo caught my eye this morning as it struck me as good, old-fashioned hollywood glamour which is something that seems to be becoming more and more rare these days. This is proof that you don’t have to be a toothpick in order to make men go weak at the knees. In fact, the sexiest woman ever was voted by one of the leading male magazines to be none other than Jessica Rabbit - coke bottle-shaped sex appeal in a slinky dress, curves and one hell of alot of smoulder and yes girls, she is taller than her man (the fact he is a rabbit is another story entirely).
Not that there is anything wrong with the toothpick if it is your natural shape, I just disapprove of women starving themselves in an obsessive way in order to achieve the same shape as your average 12 year old.
Kate looks healthy, radiant, immaculately groomed and enviably curvaceous in the Balmain dress whilst Leo looks every bit the Hollywood Hearthrob with his suave and sophisticated look (Armani? Boss? Who knows!). Did you know that Kate just happens to have large feet? Not that you can spot it due to very high shoes.
Kate and Leo were doing the press for their new movie, Revolutionary Road, which pairs them up again for the first time since Titanic but this time in a gritty relationship drama. I’ve managed to see a sneak preview of this and to describe it in one word I would say beige, the colour of suburbs. Kate and Leo are married and wake up to discover their world is bland, and you then watch as they try to find color again - heavy but interesting.
I think the reason this particular photograph is so appealing to me is because neither Kate nor Leo have succumbed to what I consider the modern celebrity must-haves of a size 0 figure for women and Calvin Klein model-esque buff bodies for men. The demonstrate more ‘achievable’ glamour and are surely better role models for girls and women today? In the run up to Christmas, take inspiration from Miss Winslet and think sexy curves.

The release of the hugely anticipated film ‘Australia’ sees Nicole Kidman stepping back into the limelight after her time away having a baby and concentrating on her marriage to Keith Urban. Nicole is one of those marmite celebrities that you either love or hate. Even the Amazona team is divided! Some say she’s a beautiful, gifted (tall!) actress, while the rest say she looks like a botox faced schoolmistress!
Either way, she does have an imitable sense of style. At 5’10, with size 9 feet, Nicole knows how to dress to flatter her statuesque figure. Often choosing floor length maxi dresses for evening events, Nicole’s style has given us inspiration for the coming party season. The red Balenciaga dress that she wore the 2006 Oscars is perfect for festive season. Any tall women over 5’8 should have a good back catalogue of maxi dresses; they hid a multitude of sins and allow you to wear flats.
Marmite she maybe, but Nicole’s style is a definite winner.

It has been a long time since Brooke Shields first made fashion history as a 15 year-old with the “Do you wanna know what comes between me and my Calvins? Nothing.” ads in 1980. After that she made several high profile movies like The Blue Lagoon, Endless Love and Pretty Baby.
Honestly, I think the 43 year-old married mother of two is probably just as famous for her high-profile spat with Tom Cruise in 2005. I can’t help but wonder what the good people outside of the US think of Tom?
Anyway, At 6′ tall, Brooke was once told that she was too tall to be an actress. And too pretty. Can you imagine? Now the star of the series Lipstick Jungle in its second season, she is more beautiful and stylish than ever. Her style as Wendy Healy, a movie studio exec on the series, is professional, yet still fun and fresh. I didn’t even mind when Brooke’s character was recently fired, because we got to see her wearing hip and casual clothes around the city of New York.
No doubt Brooke will be around for years to come. She demonstrated real star style staying-power (that was even hard to type) in her fuschia Badgley Mischka gown at this year’s Emmy Awards, where arguably she was the best-dressed.

Being 6ft2 myself, I have often wondered why there is so little written to encourage and celebrate tall women. It’s so hard growing up and having any extraordinary feature which makes you stand out from your peers, whether that be height or looks or whatever. You should embrace everything that you are, particularly if that is great height - the rest of the female population is desperately squeezing into 5 inch heels in an attempt to achieve what you do simply by standing up every morning!
Here are my favourite reasons to celebrate your height:
1. It’s easier to be taken seriously. Tall women are perceived to be more intelligent, capable and successful.
2. You can always see any talent (boys!) in the room & find your friends easily.
3. You always get to sit ‘shotgun’ in (the front seat of) a taxi or friends car.
4. You can never be average…..Thank God!
5. People will always remember you.
6. The likelihood to someone wearing the same outfit as you is so slim - so,so slim.
7. You have a hope in hell of resembling a supermodel.. .to most of the female population, it’s an impossibility.
8. You are naturally a more able athlete
9. Your friends (generally) can’t borrow shoes or clothes, which they later trash.
10. Tall women statistically earn more than their shorter colleagues.

Hello from the United States! My name is Laurin and I’m a tall fashion fanatic, 5′ 11 3/4″ to be exact. I will be reporting on what’s hot and what’s not from the other side of the pond.
Sorry to jump right into politics, but you may have heard we just had an election here in the United States. Barack Obama is our new President! We also have a lovely and stylish new First Lady, Michelle Obama.
First Lady Michelle Obama - hey, I like the sound of that - is also a very tall woman. You would think the press could nail down something as simple as how tall a person is, but reports differ and estimates range from 5′ 8″ to 6′. In any event, she is quite tall, and her savvy separates and chic sheaths are perfect for her.
In true political fashion, Ms. Obama’s first fashion moment as First Lady has already caused a debate of its own. Apparently, the altered Narciso Rodriguez dress she wore on election night is the talk of the fashion and style blogs. Whether you love it or hate it, it’s certainly not a “meh”.
Throughout her husband’s long campaign, Ms. Obama has been a fashion darling, in stark contrast to the expensive designer duds of Ms. McCain, and the full-blown $150,000 wardrobe-gate surrounding Sarah Palin. Hopefully, she will continue to wear accessible clothing, such as the J. Crew ensemble she impressed us with on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
Along with the rest of the world, in the coming months I’ll be watching attentively as our new President tackles some of the serious issues facing our country. I will also be faithfully watching the style moves of our new “Commander in Sheath.”
