Hello Amazona ladies, today will henceforth be known as the day that Trends Day Wednesday started! Every Wednesday we’ll be giving you an insight into one of the hottest trends around and offering you helpful hints for the taller women on how to wear them.
First up: Dark Romance. Imagine a super sexy version of goth and you’re along the right lines. Think Kate Bush in her Wuthering Heights phases and you’re nearly there. Add in a bit of 80s black lace and you’ve got it! Hey presto, you’re a mysterious vision of slinky soulfulness. Givenchy (pictured above) were responsible for kick starting the trend with their gothic take on glamour for their AW08 catwalk show.
The best thing about this trend is the opportunity to incorporate the other major trend, which I’m sure you’ve seen plastered all over the fashion mags – the black lace dress. This is advice for everyone over 5’10, young or old…wear your dress short! The shorter the better! Hike up the hemline!
Unbelievable as it might sound, a tight black lace dress is extremely flattering, especially when worn with some killer heels (see The Gladiators post!). Juxtapose with a soft biker jacket (leather is key to the trend) and you’re good to go.
